Experiences in pioneer camps
This project is about the experiences of Lithuanians in pioneer camps in Lithuania and in an all-union camp Artek. Camps may have been an innocent experience in a child’s developing worldview, but everything was built on a strong ideological foundation. This project explores the individual experiences and memories of camp participants in order to deepen the understanding of Soviet practices in everyday life and to better understand and reflect on the processes of that time. A large part of the current Lithuanian population were children during the Soviet era, therefore, it is interesting what people who went to pioneer camps in their childhood remember and how they recognize the ideological traces in their memories.
